What do we feel when we think of our country? Do you see love, prosperity and a bright future or do you see hate, poverty, endless conflict and a future with no tomorrow? I don’t know about you but the Ethiopians I meet in my everyday life are not a happy people when it comes to matters of their country. That is so not because we are angry people by nature but the situation in our country is turning us to be suspicious of each other, question one another’s motive and dwell on the doom and gloom of what is awaiting us around the corner. I used to think when one considers what our country has gone through the last forty years it is reason enough for an excuse to be in a dark mood. But that is a cover up not to face my own shortcoming.

What about you my Ethiopian brethren are you up to the task of looking deep inside your soul and making a determination for the condition our country is in today and your part in this ugly story that we would be ashamed to tell our children? Do you think each one of us have contributed to the dysfunctional system our country is saddled with at the moment? I am thinking if I am not willing to fess up to my own role in this human catastrophe I as individual have subjected my people to and find a way to make amends then there is no reason for me to speak, involve and have opinion regarding the future. What do you think my friend?

Today there are over fifteen million people facing famine and give or take a few thousands about one hundred thousand will die. This is not some idle talk or something I conjured up in my mind. Take it or not it is a fact. It is sad but true. It is not something willed by God because we have sinned or a condition due to what is referred to El Nino by climatologists but solely due to the fact that our government did not prepare for bad times due to incompetence and abdication of duty that by most well-meaning people could be considered a criminal act.
Today we witness the use of solders that are trained to protect our border from foreign invasion being used to kill peaceful protesters that raised a legitimate question to protect their interest.

Today we have a regime that won 100% seats in the Parliament using trickery and deception negotiating with neighbors and concluding a deal giving our land away for no reason other than prolonging its uneventful life. They are trading land for a few more years of looting. It is of a historical significance when you consider Emperor Yohanes died for the land his children are high fiving each other for a betrayal well done. When Karl Marx wrote “History repeats itself, first as a tragedy, second as farce’ he must have been thinking of what would happen to us.

Do you wonder why in the world this is happening to us? Are we really that bad of a people and we are paying today for our past sins? There has to be an explanation because stuff do not happen in a vacuum. You see the point is that no matter what we feel no matter what we believe and no matter how we view our presence in this vast universe it is our individual action that determines the outcome of any situation. They have a saying ‘No rain drop thinks it is responsible for the flood’ or “No snowflake in an avalanche ever feels responsible.”
Do you see what I mean? The Woyane regime is bad and evil and the policy they have been implementing in our motherland is the cause of so much misery for our people and I do not like it is a statement I hear all the time. To be frank I have not met a real live Ethiopian that with confidence and a loud voice support the minority based regime. It is always said with so many qualifications and with eyes down cast, and a hint of shame that it ends up being so confused that one cannot make heads or tail out of the statement. It can be said that we all try to deflect attention away from our own role in this human tragedy. The question is what have you done to deny them that power not to hurt and injure your loved ones? So you say I am just one individual what power do I have? That is what that one rain drop said or a tiny snow flake pointed out to avoid responsibility for the final outcome. This where we find ourselves now. Our individual action has created and sustained this monster but I do not see no one stepping forward to take credit. What Americans call ‘passing the buck’ has acquired new meaning in Ethiopia.

Someone has at last raised an important question and d the regime address the issue. Our Oromo people have started to say no to an act the Woyane regime has been practicing on our people. The Gambelans, the Amharas and the Afars have been victimized by what is known as ‘land grab’. The Gamblenas were forced to abandon their ancestral land, the Amharas have been made refugees in their own country and the Afars have resigned themselves to this modern day of internal displacement. Today the Oromos reached their limit and rose up in an angry fashion and are saying no.

They are blessed to have children that have been forced to flee but did not forget the family they left behind. We all thank them for teaching us the art of standing up and exposing the fraudulent regime in power. They are using technology to raise the consciousness of their own people in particular and all of Ethiopia’s children in general. The hashtag #Oromo protest is sweeping Ethiopian politics both at home and abroad like a prairie fire. There are a few that are reluctant to support the movement due to the mention of only Oromo in the campaign. It is understandable because our African Americans were faced with the same resistance from white people when the hashtag #Black Lives Matter went viral. It took some explanation by the organizers to make people understand the issue.

Some white folks wanted to change it to #All Lives Matter. For a few die hard racists it was an attempt to dilute the message. No one can argue about that. Of course all lives matter but the fact of the matter was that the police were not killing any citizen at random but were focused on young African Americans and all the data showed that to be true. #Black Lives Matter was meant to drive the message home that young Black people were the victims and that was the central [point to be addressed and has to be stopped.

#Oromo Protest is addressing the murder of young Oromo students that were being murdered by the Woyane regime and the organizers were trying to bring the focus on this criminal act. We all agree #Ethiopian Protest is valid and should be supported when it is raised but right now our Oromo children are paying the price.

What we have learnt from our association with Woyane TPLF the last twenty years is that they are the masters of divide and rule. They have refined the art of making us fight against each other while they wait silently to pick up the broken pieces and smash it to powder. What we can predict like a fortune teller is that #Oromo protest as potent as it is will not succeed without the rest of Ethiopia joining this righteous fight to liberate our country once more from the clutches of Woyane flavored fascism.

Like what is said earlier about the ‘drop of water’ or the ‘single snowflake’ our individual action in concert with others like us would turn out to be a storm or an avalanche to sweep the dictators away. In this Holiday season when we call our family and loved ones at home or abroad it is important we stress to them the wisdom of supporting our people that are faced by a regime that does not hesitate to kill in mass. They know their criminal act of the last twenty years is catching up with them and like the cornered animal they are they will fight to death no matter the outcome.

The appeal to all Ethiopians is to do the right thing of opposing dictatorship so our people can leave in peace and prosper. It a very selfish appeal but what is more important than self-preservation. The involvement of all of us in this important cause would make the pain of our people less and the probability of success high. It is an act of love. Let us also make it clear that if by chance the current upheaval falters it will only be a temporary respite for the criminal regime because there are many that have resolved to take the fight to its logical conclusion of the victory of good over evil. Our combatants arrayed under the banner of Arbengoch G7 with their Afar, Amhara, Oromo, Ogaden allies are not waiting for others but have already started the long journey of liberation of body and mind. No one has said it is easy, no one relishes the idea of Ethiopia’s children killing each other but there are times when all well-meaning people have to resort to violent means to secure their freedom to build a harmonious society.

TPLF Woyane has the last few weeks gone berserk to deflect attention from the many failings the minority based organization is facing today. They do not want us to organize and help our millions of starving citizens. They do not want us to witness their barbaric action against our Oromo people. They do not want us to see the coming together of Ethiopia’s children united in a holy cause of national salvation. Instead of buying food for our famine victims they are spending millions to block ESAT from informing our people. Instead of using troops to transport food to hard to reach areas they are using precious petrol and sixteen wheel trucks to bring them to kill our children. This is all done in the name of you my Ethiopian brother and sister. This is your tax dollar and your elected government at work. Our country has reached the proverbial eleventh hour. The clock is ticking and each one of us have to account for our action now. No need to wish you Happy Holidays because no one in Ethiopia is sleeping easy knowing TPLF is on a rampage and is fighting for its life.

The "End of the Story" for the T-TPLF in Ethiopia?

The obituary and epitaph for the Thugtatorship of the Tigrean Liberation Front (T-TPLF) was written last year by Bereket Simon, the former “communication minister” and longtime sidekick of the late criminal mastermind of the T-TPLF, Meles Zenawi and Addisu Legesse, “deputy prime minister” to Meles and “deputy chairman” of the T-TPLF front organization called the “Ethiopian Peoples’ Revolutionary Democratic Front (EPRDF)”.

In a secretly recorded conversation, Bereket and Addisu talked plainly about the end of times — the final days, the last days — of the T-TPLF in Ethiopia to a group of their supporters.

According to Addisu:

Looking at it from our situation, it is already getting out of our hands. There is no question about that.   We can see that plainly from the way the teachers’ organizations are doing things. When 2/3 of educators are our members (of our party), and they are going out and demonstrating against us, that is the end of the story. I don’t think it is only Arena [party]. Ginbot 7 is also there. In Bahr Dar, I think, [anti-T-TPLF] flyers are being distributed. Haven’t you received any? Papers? [Others present at the meeting chime in response.] It is also [distributed] in Bahr Dar. But we do not know that, if you know what I mean. Flyers are being distributed and they are seen. So, I think they have gone down to the cell level everywhere. It seems like there is something that has organized itself. So I think it is coming from the Ginbot 7 area. (Emphasis added.)

Bereket responded with an example of what he believed is the sign of the end of times for the T-TPLF:

There was a meeting. I went to the meeting. I was eating breakfast. Two individuals came and started talking to me. When they talked to me, they imposed themselves on me. Their appearance did not make me happy (comfortable). When I started to investigate, these individuals are primary beneficiaries of city land acquisition. Primary! These are individuals who will scam left and right and get land beyond what is appropriate. But they had the audacity to accuse our comrades. They were ready to make accusations that so and so did this so and so did that. So when you look at it, what are they talking about? For me, so to speak, I tried to answer them as best as I thought about it. It is not something that one could accept [the accusation]. But the incredible thing is that anyone to have the audacity to say something like this to me, one can see the potential of such individuals to create chaos in the city. So, all those who spread propaganda and people like that must be singled out and we must isolate them. Even those people who have been telling us for a long time that they are our friends in the past are telling us sarcastically (mockingly) , ‘Oh! Don’t worry. We will see each other when it is the election season and stuff like that.’ Such talk does not make you happy… (Emphasis added.)

What exactly is eating Bereket, Addisu and T-TPLF Inc.?
First, it is clear the two T-TPLF head honchos fear the end of the T-TPLF is near. They said so in plain terms. “That is the end of the story” of the T-TPLF.

For 24 years, the T-TPLF played their game of divide and rule and nurtured ethnic and sectarian hate. Someone once said hate is like a boomerang that misses its target and comes back and hits you in the head. Well, the hate the T-TPLF spread in Ethiopia for the last 24 years missed its target of making Ethiopia a nation of haters. The hate the T-TPLF hate produced is now hammering the T-TPLF on the head.

For 24 years, the T-TPLF played their ethnic federalism game and declared all land belongs to the state.
But to whom does the state belong?
The T-TPLF and the international land scammers, swindlers and poverty pimps bought and sold, pawned and auctioned, peddled and hustled the peoples’ land.
In December 2015, the T-TPLF land scammers and swindlers were served final notice: We are not going to let you steal our land any more. “Enough is enough!”
The larger message to the T-TPLF in December 2015 is resolute:
You stole our dignity for 24 years, and we did nothing but lived in shame. Now, “Enough is enough!”
You stole our human rights for 24 years, and we quietly accepted second-class citizenship. Now,  “Enough is enough!”
You stole our voice for 24 years, and we remained silent. Now, “Enough is enough!”
You stole our children’s future for 24 years, and we watched in quiet desperation. Now, “Enough is enough!”
You stole one election after another for 24 years, and this year you added insult to injury by claiming you won the “election” by one hundred percent. Now, “Enough is enough!”
You stole our humanity for 24 years, and today we question our sanity for allowing you to steal our humanity. Now, “Enough is enough!”

After 24 years, we will be damned if we are going to let you continue to steal our land, the land our forefathers died and shed their blood, so you can sell it for pennies to your swindling and crooked international land grabbers and poverty pimps. “Enough is enough!”

We will stand our ground or we will be underground defending our land.

We will not back down even if you clampdown, crackdown, knock us down, push us down, run us down or break us down!

ረሃቡና ኢህአዴጋዊ እውነታዎች!” (ኤርሚያስ ለገሰ)

ህወሃት መራሹ መንግስት በኢትዮጵያ ውስጥ ረሃብ በተከሰተ ቁጥር የረሃቡን ዋነኛ ምንጭ “የአየር ንብረት መዛባት” በሚል ውጫዊ ምክንያት ማላከኩ የተለመደ ሆኗል። ለአብነት ያህል የዛሬ ዘጠኝ አመት በኢትዮጵያ ረሃብ በተነሳ ወቅት “የሰሞኑ የረሃብ ፖለቲካ” በሚል ረዕስ የውስጥ ድርጀት ሰነድ ተዘጋጅቶ ነበር ደራሲው ጓድ መለስ ዜናዊ ነበሩ። በማስከተልም የፓርቲው ከፍተኛ ካድሬዎች እና የመንግስት ባለስልጣናት ውይይት እንዲያደርጉበት ተደረገ። በዚህ ሰነድ ገፅ 6 ላይ የረሃቡን ዋነኛ ምንጭ እንደሚከተለው ይገልጻል።

“ረሃቡ ከምን እንደሚመነጭ በትክክል ማስቀመጥ መፍትሄውን ለማስቀመጥ ወሳኝ ነው። የረሃቡ ቀጥተኛ ምንጭ ከአየር ንብረት መዛባት ጋር ተያይዞ የተከሰተው ድርቅ ነው። የአየር ንብረቱ መዛባትና ድርቁ እኛ ያልፈጠርነው ልናስተካክለው የማንችለው ነባራዊ ሃቅ ነው። በዚህ ነባራዊ ሁኔታ ማዕቀፍ ድርቁን ተቋቁመን ረሃቡን ለማስወገድ ያስቀመጥነው ስትራቴጂ ተዓምር ሰሪነቱ በንድፈ ሃሳብ ደረጃ ብቻ ሳይሆን በተግባር ተረጋግጧል። የረሃቡ ዋነና ምንጭም የአየር ንብረት መዛባትና ድርቅ ነባራዊ ሁኔታን መቋቋም ረሃብን ለማጥፋት የቀየስነው ስትራቴጂ በሚፈለገው ፍጥነት በሁሉም አካባቢዎችን ስላልተፈጸመ ነው” ይላል።

እስኪ ይታያችሁ! ከዛሬ ዘጠኝ አመት በፊት (በ 1999 ዓም) የድርቁ መንስዔ የአየር ንብረት መዛባት እንደሆነ ተነገረን። ከዚያ በፊትም ምንጩ ተመሳሳይ ነበር። አሁንማ ልማድ ሆኖብን በኢትዮጵያ ምድር በየሁለት አመቱ ረሃብ የሚከሰት ሲሆን ምንጩ የአየር ንብረት ለውጥ ሆኗል። በነገራችን ላይ በሃገራችን ላይ በተጠቀሰው አመት ድርቁ ወደረሃብ በመቀየሩ ምክንያት በርካታ ህጻናት እና እናቶች ሞተዋል። በአራቱም ማዕዘናት ዜጎች ቀዬአቸውን ለቀው ተሰደዋል። የተፈጠረው አስደንጋጭ ሁኔታ ከህሊና የሚጠፋ አልነበረም።

በዛን ወቅት “በምጥቁ መሪ!” አብዮታዊ አመራር ሰጪነት የተሰራው ወንጀል ዘመን ተሻጋሪና ነገ ከነገ ወዲያ ተጠያቂነትን የሚያመጣ ነው።

እንዲህ ነበር የሆነው፥

በኢትዮጵያ አዲስ ሚሊኒየም ዋዜማ የተከሰተው ድርቅ ወደረሃብ መሸገገሩን የሚያሳይ ረፖርቶች ከመላው ሃገሪቱ መሰማት ጀመሩ። የኢህአዴግ የፕሮፓጋንዳ ማሽን ከዛ አመት በፊት በነበሩት አራት አመታት ኢኮኖሚያችን በሁለት አህዝ አድጓል፥ ሚሊየነር አርሶ አደሮች መፍጠር ችለናል በሚል ቅኝት የሚመራ ስለነበረ ይህን መርዶ ለመቀበል አስቸጋሪ ሆነ። ረሃብን አስወግደናል ብለን ባወጅን ማግስት በረሃብ ተጠቅተን መገኘት በእርግጥም አሳፋሪ ነበር። የአመራርና የማስፈፀም አቅማችን፣ ምርጥ ልምዶች የማስፋት ስትራቴጂያችን ለአለም ተምሳሌት ሆኗል ባልን ጥቂት ቀናት ህዝቡ ረሃቡን መቋቋም አቅቶት እየተሰደደ መሆኑ መመልከት ፕሮፓጋንዳችን “ቢወቅጡት እምቦጭ” እንደሆነ የሚያመላክት ሆነ።

እንደ ተፈራው በዕልፍ አመቱ ዋዜማ የሰው ህይወት በየቦታው መውደቅ ጀመረ፥ ረሃቡን መቋቋም የማንችልበት ሁኔታ ግልፅ ሆኖ ወጣ። የመጀመሪያ ሰሞን እውነታውን አውገርግሮ ከማቅረብ ይልቅ ትክክለኛው መረጃ ተሰብስቦ ወደኢህእዴግ ቢሮ እንዲመጣ ልዩ ውሳኔ ተላለፈ። ለማመን በሚቸግር ሁኔታ የረሃቡ ዋነኛ ሰለባ ከሆኑት አካባቢዎች የሚመጣው መረጃ እጅግ አስፈሪና አስደንጋጭ ሆነ። ከሶማሊያ ጫፍ እስከ አብርሃ አጽብሃ የሚባል የትግራይ ቀበሌ ድረስ ህዝቡ የሚላስ የሚቀመስ ማጣቱ ታወቀ። የከፋ ረሃብ ያጋጠማቸው አካባቢዎች ልጆቻቸውን እየቀበሩ ቀዬአቸውን እየለቀቁ መሰደድ መጀመራቸው እሙን ሆነ።

በሚሊኒየሙ ዋዜማ የችጋሩ ዋነኛ ተጠቂ ከሆኑት አካባቢዎች የመጀመሪያው የሱማሌ ክልል ነበር። የሱማሌ ክልል ኢህአዴግ አዲስ አበባን ከተቆጣጠረ ጀምሮ ለስርዓቱ ተገዢ እንዳልሆነ በገሃድ የሚታወቅ እውነታ ነው። በዛ ላይ አካባቢው በጦርነት የሚታመስ መሆኑ የረሃብ አደጋው በእንቅርት ላይ ጆሮ ደግፍ አደረገው። በወቅቱ የተፈጠረው ረሃብ በ10ሺዎች የሚጠጉ የቀንድ እና የጋማ ከብቶች መሞታቸው ታወቀ። ከ80 -100 የሚሆኑ ህጻናት በረሃቡ ምክንያት ህይወታቸው እንዳለፈ የሚያሳይ መረጃ የስም ዝርዝር ረፖርት ቀረበ።

ይህንን የሱማሊያ የረሃብ ሁኔታ የተቀበለው ጓድ በረከት ከ “ባለራዕዩ መሪ!” ጋር በመነጋገር አንድ ጠንካራ ትዕዛዝ ሰጠ። ጥብቁ ትዕዛዝ “ማንኛውም የሃገር ውስጥም ሆነ የውጭ ጋዜጠኛ፣ በመንግስት ክትትል የማይደረግበት በጎ አድርጎት ድርጀት (NGO) ወደሶማሊያ ዝር እንዳይል!” የሚል ነበር። እነሆ ላለፉት 10 አመታት የትኛውም የነጻ ፕሬስ ሆነ የውጭ ጋዜጠኛ ወደሶማሊያ ክልል ልሂድ ብሎ ጥያቄ ቢያቀርብ ኣይፈቀድለትም። ከጓድ በረከት ጋር የቅርብ ወዳጅነት የመሰረቱትም ቢሆን ፍቃድ አያገኙም። የተለያዩ ምክንያቶች እየተሰጣቸው ጥያቄዎች እንዲጥሉ ይደረጋል። በዚህ ምክንያት በሱማሊያ በረሃቡ የሞቱት ህጻናት ከሪፖርቱ ውጪ እንዲሆኑ ተደረገ። እስከ 100 የሚደርሱት ህውየታቸው ያለፉት ህጻናት ማህደር በኢህአዴግ ቢሮ ተቆለፈበት።

በሚሊኒየሙ ዋዜማ ሌላኛው የረሃቡ ተጠቂ አካባቢ ደቡብ ኢትዮጵያ ነበር። ረሃብ ታሪክ ተደርጎበታል የተባለው የደቡብ ኢትዮጵያ በሚሊዮኖች እየረገፉ መሆኑን አስቀድመው መረጃ የመጡት መንግስታዊ ያልሆኑ ድርጅቶች እና የውጭ ጋዜጠኞች በመሆናቸው መደበቅ የሚቻል አልነበረም። ከዚህም በተጨማሪ የውጭ ጋዜጠኞች የተፈናቀሉ እና የሞቱ ሰዎች የሚያሳዩት ዘገባዎችን ለዓለም ህዝብ በማስተላለፋቸው ምክንያት መነጋገሪያነቱ ከጫፍ ጫፍ ናኘ። በመሆኑም ነባራዊ ሁኔታውን እንደቅቡል መውሰድ፣ ግን ደግሞ እውነታውን አውረግርጎ ማቅረብ የአቶ መለስ መራሹ የመንግስት የፕሮፓጋንዳ ስትራቴጂ ሆኖ እንዲቀረፅ ተደረገ።

በዚህም ምክንያት የተራበው ህዝብ ከ 14 ሚሊዮን በላይ ቢሆንም ጓድ! መለስ ባዘጋጀው “የሰሞኑ የረሃብ ፖለቲካ” የውስጠ-ድርጅት ሰነድ ጨምሮ የመንግስት ሚዲያ ተቋማት 6.4 ሚሊዮን ብቻ ለረሃብ አደጋ መጋለጣቸው አሳወቁ። በሱማሊያ፣ በአፋር፣ በኦሮሚያ፣ በደቡብ ኢትዮጵያ ከ500 ያላነሱ ህጻናት በረሃብ ቢሞቱም የፕሮፓጋንዳ ማሽን ከ30 እንደማይበልጡ ይፋ አደረገ። ይህንን አውነታ በማስረጃ ለማስደገፍ ያህል “የሰሞኑ የረሃብ ፖለቲካ” በሚለው የፓርቲ ሰነድ ከገፅ 7-8 የሚከተለውን ይላል፥

“በአንዳንድ የደቡብ አካባቢዎች አደጋውን በወቅቱ ካለማየት ጋር ተያይዞ ባለፈው አመት 26 ያህል ህጻናት ለሞት የተዳረጉበት ሁኔታ ተከስቷል። ኢህአዴግ ስልጣን ከያዘ በኋላ በረሃብ ምክንያት የተፈናቀሉ ዜጎች የሉም። አልፎ አልፎ በአፈጻጸም ጉድለት ምክንያት እንደተጠቀሰው የሟች ዜጎች ቢኖሩም በአጠቃላይ በመቶ ሺዎች ቀርቶ በመቶዎች የማይሞቱበት ተፈጥሯል። በተወሰኑ አካባቢዎች የሚታየው የአፈጻጸም ጉድለት ካስተካከልን ምንም ዜጋ የማይሞትበት ሁኔታ መፍጠር እንደምንችልም ጥርጥር የለውም” ይላል።

እንዲህ እውነቱ ተቀናንሶ እና በብዕር ቆንጨራ ተከታትፎ ቢቀርብም በአደባባይ ያለው ሚስጥር ሃቁን መሸፋፈን አልቻለም። ዛሬም ዜጎች በረሃብ ሰቆቃ ውስጥ እየኖሩ ነው። ህይወታቸው እየተቀጠፈ እየተመለከትን “የምጥቁ መሪ!” ተከታዮች ረሃብ የለም ይሉናል። ችግር የተከሰተው “ምናምንቴ” የሚል ስያሜ በተሰጠው አየር መዛባት ምክንያት ድርቅ ስለተከሰተ እንደሆነ ይሰብኩናል። ፍቱን መድሃኒቱም በተግባር የተረጋገጠው “ኪራይ የሚሰበስበው” ስትራቴጂያቸው እንደሆነ ይነግሩናል። ርግጥ ሃቁን በትክክል ቢያስቀምጡ ከትናንትናው ምላሳቸው ጋር ስለሚጣሉ አጣሞ ማቅረብ ግዴታቸው ይሆናል። ምንም እንኳን ያሳምንልናል ብለው የሚያቀርቡት መከራከሪያ ከተጨባጭ ሃቁና መሬት ላይ ካላው እውነታ የትየለሌ በመሆኑ በህዝቡ ትዝብት ላይ ቢወድቁም!….

እዚህ ላይ ማንም አእምሮ ያለውና የአለምን ፖለቲካል ኢኮኖሚ የሚከታተል ሰው የአየር መዛባት፣ የዝናብ እጥረት አልተከሰተም አይልም። ከአገዛዙ ከበለጠ የድርቅ ባህሪያና ትርጉም መረዳት የሚያቅተውም አይደለም። በኢትዮጵያ ብቻ ሳይሆን በመላው አለም የምግብ ምርት ወይም የውሃ አቅርቦት በመቀነሱ ከፍተኛ ጫና የሚያስከትሉ የእርጥበት እጥረት መከሰቱን የሚክድ የለም። የድርቅ መነሻ ምክንያቱ ከመደበኛ እና ከሚጠበቀው በታች በአየር ጠባይ መለያየት የተነሳ የዝናብ እጥረት መሆኑ የሚዘነጋ አይደለም። በአለም አቀፍ ደረጃም በአየር ጠባይ ለውጥ ምክንያት በተለያዩ ዘመናት ሃገሮች በድርቅ ሲጠቁ ተመልክተናል።

ነገርን ነገር ያነሳዋል እንዲሉ ባለፈው ክረምት ጓድ ሃይለማሪያም ደሳለኝ ከውጭ የመጡ የሃገሬ ሰዎች በሚሊኒየም አዳራሽ ሰብስቦ ያሰማው “ኢህአዴጋዊ አውነታ” የኢትዮጵያውያን መነጋገሪያ ሆኖ ነበር። በተለይ በካሊፎርኒያ የአሜሪካ ዜጋ በድርቅ እየተሰቃየ መሆኑ አስረግጦ ሲናገር የተሰማው ጭብጨባ እስከዛሬም ጆሮዬን ይሰቀጥጠናል። የሆነው ሆኖ “ካሊፎርኒያ በድርቅ ተሰቃየች” የሚለው አባባል የትኛውን ግብ ለማሳካት በጭብጨባ እንደታጀበ የሚያውቁት አጨብጫቢዎች ብቻ ቢሆንም የገባንበትን የሰብዕና መላሸቅ አጉልቶ የሚያሳይ ነበር። የአውስትራሊያ አሊያም የካሊፎርኒያ ህዝብ በድርቅ ቢጠቃ ደስ ይለናል ማለት ነው?

የአገጣሚ ነገር ሆኖ የዛሬ ሳምንት እኔና ተወልደ በየነ (ተቦርነ) ለኢሳት የገቢ ማስገኛ ዝግጅት የካሊፎርኒያ እምብርት ወደሆነችው ሎስ አንጀለስ (LA) (ተቦርነ “ላይ አርማጭሆ” ይላታል) ሄደን ነበር። የፕሮግራሙ አዘጋጅ ኮሚቴ የእንኳን ደህና መጣችሁ የመክፈቻ ንግግር ሲያደርጉ “እንኳን በድርቅ ምክንያት እየተሰቃየች ያለችውን ካሊፎርኒያ በሰላም መጣችሁ!” በሚል ነበር የጀመሩት።

ይህንን የእንኳን ደህና መጣችሁ ንግግር በአርምሞ ሲያዳምጡ የነበሩት ተሰብሳቢዎች በጭበ አስከትሎም የማያባራ ሳቅ አጀቡት። መቼስ! ተንኮል ካልሆነ በስተቀር ጭብጨባና ሳቅ ምን አመጣው? እንኳንም ጓድ! ሃይለማርያም በስብሰባው አልኖረ! እንኳንም በሚሊኒየም አዳራሽ የተገኙ የካሊፎርኒያ ነዋሪዎች አልሆኑ።

እናማ የስብሰባው አዘጋጆች ፕሮግራም ከተጠናቀቀ በኋላ በያዙልን ዕለታዊ መርሃግብር መሰረት ካሊፎርኒያን ያስጎበኙ ነበር። የድሮ ካድሬ ነገር ሆኖብኝ የምንሄድበት መኪና በቆመ ቁጥር ነጩን፣ ጥቁሩን፣ ስፓኒሹን፣ አፍሪካዊውን ካሊፎርኒያ “ ድርቁ እንዴት ነው? ምን ጉዳት አስከተለ?” የሚል ጥያቄ አነሳ ነበር። ያለማጋነን ጥያቄ ከመለሱልኝ ሰዎች ውስጥ ዘጠና በመቶው ድርቅ መኖሩን አያውቁም። የተቀሩት ውሃ ለመቆጠብ የሻወር ቤታቸውን የውሃ ወንፊት እንዳጠበቡ ነግረውናል። ከፊሎቹ ለውሃ ቁጠባ ሲባል መኪናቸውን በሁለት ሳምንት አንዴ እያጠቡ መሆኑን እያዘኑ አጫውተውናል። ሃዘናቸውንም ተጋርተነዋል። የሻወር ቤት ወንፊት ከማጥበብ፣ መኪናን በሳምንት ሁለት ጊዜ ከማጠብ በላይ ምን ስቃይ አለ? አትክልትን ከሳምንት አምስት ቀን ሁለት ቀን ውሃ እንዲጠጡ ከማድረግ በላይ ምን የሚያበሳጭ ነገር አለ?

የአጋጣሚ ነገር ሆኖ በግዛቱ የመንግስት ተቋም ውስጥ የሚሰራ ሙያተኛ ከአስጎብኚዎች አንዱ ነበር። ግለሰቡ ካሊፎርኒያ ያጋጠማት ችግር ጓድ ሃይለማሪያም ከጠቀሱት በተቃራኒ፣ ከልክ በላይ መብላት የሚመጣ ውፍረት (Obesity) መሆኑን ነገረን። ፍየል ወዲያ ቅዝምዝም ወዲህ እንዲሉ ወዳጃችን የካሊፎርኒያ ችግር ከመጠን በላይ ምግብ በመብላት እና የአካል እንቅስቃሴ ባለማድረግ የሚመጣ የሰውነት ውፍረት እንደሆነ አጫወተን። በመፍትሄ ደረጃም በግዛቱ በሚገኙ ት/ቤቶች “Child obesity school program” ቀርጸው ተግባራዊ እንቅስቃሴ እያደረጉ መሆኑን ነገረን። በየመቶ ሜትሩ የምናያቸው የተዘረጠጡ ህጻናት ለፕሮግራሙ ተገቢነት የሚያረጋግጡ ነበር። እርግጥም ካሊፎርኒያን ጨምሮ በመላው አሜሪካ ጭንቀትና ስቃዩ የዜጎች የስብ ክምችት መሆኑን ለማወቅ ብዙ መልፋት አይጠበቅም። ለጥቂት ደቂቃዎች ወደኢንተርኔት ጎራ ያለ ሰው ከአሜሪካ አጠቃላይ ህዝብ 78 ሚሊዮኑ (ከዚሁም 12 ሚሊዮን ህጻናት) በውፍረት ግዝፈት መጠቃቱን ይመለከታል። ዘለግ አድርጎ ለተመለከተ ደግሞ የሰውነት ግዝፈት መጠን (obesity rate) በውፍረት በሽታ የግዛቶቹ ተደርድሮ ያያል። ለምሳሌ ካሊፎርኒያ 24.1%፣ ሚሲሲፒ 35%፣ ቨርጂኒያ 35.1% ወዘተ እያለ ይቀጥላል።

እነዚህን የመሳሰሉ ሀገሮች በአየር መዛባት ምክንያት ድርቅ ሲከሰትባቸው ትክክለኛ ፖሊሲ በመቅረፅ ዜጎቻቸውን ታድገዋል። የረጅም እና የአጭር ጊዜ ስትራቴጂካል እቅዶችን ከማውጣት ባሻገር ተስማሚ ቴክኖሎጂ በመምረጥ፣ የውሃ እና አፈር አጠባበቅ ተግባርን በማሻሻል፣ የግብርና ምርት ውጤቶችን ወደውጭ እንዳይወጡ በማገድ፣ የገጠር እና የከተማው ልማት በማቀናጀት… ወዘተ ዘላቂ መፍትሄ አስቀምጠዋል። ከዚህም በተጨማሪ ሰፋፊ ዘመናዊ እርሻዎች በማስፋፋት፣ የግብርና ምርታቸውን በከፍተኛ እጥፍ በማሳደግና፣ የህዝቡን የመግዛት አቃም በማጎልበት በድርቅ ምክንያት የሚከሰተውን አደጋ ከቁጥጥራቸው ውጪ እንዳይሆን አድርገዋል። ድርቅ ተፈጥሯዊ ነውና በማንኛውም ሰዓት ይመጣል፥ ግን ደግሞ እዚህ ግባ የማይባል ጉዳት አያደርስም። በፖለቲካው መስክም ቢሆን የገነቡት ዲሞክራሲያው ስርዓት ሁለንተናዊ ልማት ለማረጋገት የበኩሉን ድርሻ ተወጥቷል። ያለነጻነት ሁሉን አቀፍ ልማት ማምጣት እንደማይቻል ተገንዝበው ለዜጎቻቸው ነጻነት አጎናጽፈዋል።

እንግዲህ በአለም ያለው እውነታ ይህ ነው። ይሁን እንጂ፣ “ የሞኝ ለቅሶ መልሶ መላልሶ” እንዲሉ ገዢዎቻችን በስልጣን ላይ ከወጡ ጀምሮ በየሁለት አመቱ የሚከሰተውን ከድርቅ የተሻገረ ረሃብ በአየር ጠባይ ለውጥ ምክንያት እንደሆነ ሊያስረዱን ይሞክራሉ። አገዛዙ ስልጣን በያዘ ሁለት አመታት ጀምሮ መጀመሪያ 6 ሚሊዮን፣ ቀጥሎ 10 ሚሊዮን፣ በማስከተል 14 ሚሊዮን ህዝብ በረሃብ ተጋልጦ ነበር። አሁን ደግሞ 15 ሚሊዮን ኢትዮጵያዊ የረሃብ አደጋ አንዣቦበታል። እነዚህ ጥሬ ሃቆች የሚካዱ አይደሉም። በኢትዮጵያ ቀይ፣ ጥቁር፣ መረሬ አፈር ላይ የተነጠፉ እውነታዎች ናቸው። ዛሬም አገዛዙ በሚከተለው ፖሊሲ ምክንያት ራሳችንን መመገብ አቅቶን አቅማዳችንን ለመጽዋት ክፍት አድርገናል። አገዛዙ ዲሞክራሲያዊ፣ ሰብዓዊና ሌሎች የህዝብ መብቶችን የሚያረጋግጡ ፖሊሲዎችን እስካልቀየረ አሊያም ስርዓቱ እስካልተቀየረ ድረስ የወደፊት እድላችን የከፋ መሆኑ ሳይታለም የተፈታ ሆኗል። የፊተኛው መፍትሄ ኣያለፈበት ይመስላል። የስርዓት ለውጥ የሚለው ደግሞ ይበልጥ ተቀባይነት ማግኘቱ የሚታይበት ሁኔታ ፈጥሯል። ፍጥነቱ በደረሰው መከራ እና አበሳ፣ በደረብን ቁጭት ልክ ባይሆንም። ዞሮ ዞሮ ሃገራችን የገባችበትን የረሃብ አዙሪት ትግሉን ከሚያዘውሩት ቁልፍ ጉዳዮች አንዱ መሆኑ አልቀረም!

Zone9 blogger banned from attending RSF award ceremony

Reporters Without Borders (RSF) is worried about a travel ban imposed on the blogger Zelalem Kibret, which prevented him from flying to France to receive this year’s RSF Press Freedom Prize in the citizen-journalist category on behalf of the Zone9 blogger collective.

As Kibret was about to set off for Paris on 16 November, the Ethiopian authorities confiscated his passport and prevented him from boarding his plane. Immigration officials said he could not leave Ethiopia because he and otherZone9 members had previously been arrested.

RSF has repeatedly tried to obtain more information about the travel ban from the Ethiopian authorities in Addis Ababa and Paris, but without success.

“We are surprised and disturbed by the travel ban imposed on Zelalem Kibret,” said Clea Kahn-Sriber, the head of RSF’s Africa desk.

“No restriction was placed on his movements when he was released in July, and the rest of the collective was cleared of all terrorism charges in October. We do not understand why his passport has been confiscated and we urge the relevant authorities to quickly restore his rights.”

When Kibret complied with instructions to go to the police the next day, he was told that an investigation was under way and that his passport would not be returned until it was completed.

Kibret was one of six Zone9 bloggers who were arrested on terrorism charges in April 2014. He and one other were released on the justice minister’s orders in July 2015, after being held for 15 months. The other four were acquitted on all terrorism charges and were freed three months later. Soleayna Gebremicheal, a Zone9cofounder who had left the country, was also acquitted.

By means of a video recorded in Washington, Gebremicheal representedZone9 at the award ceremony in Strasbourg on 17 November.

ህወሃት ጦርነት ጀመረ፣ ቁስለኞች ታይተዋል “ሕዝብ አስፈቅደን ውጊያ እንጀምራለን” ሃይለማርያም

በነጻ አውጪ ስም አገር እየገዛ ያለውን የትግራይ ነጻ አውጪ ግምባር (ህወሃትን) ለመውጋት ብረት ያነሳው ሌላ የትግራይ ነጻ አውጪ ሃይል /ትህዴን ወይም በትግሪኛ ዴምህት/ መሪ የነበረው “ተጋዳላይ” ሞላ አስገዶም ህወሃትን ከተቀላቀለ ጥቂት ቀናት በኋላ ጦርነት መጀመሩ ተሰማ። የህወሃት ወኪል ሃይለማርያም ደሳለኝ ውጊያው የሚጀመረው የህዝብ ፈቃድ ተጠይቆ እንደሚሆን ተናግረው ነበር።

የጎልጉል መረጃ አቀባዮች ከአዲስ አበባ እንደገለጹት ጦር ኃይሎች ሆስፒታል ቁስለኞች እየገቡ መሆኑንን እማኞች ነግረዋቸዋል። ጦርነቱ በየትኛው መንደርና ወረዳ እንደተጀመረ ለይተው ያላስረዱት የዜናው ባለቤቶች፣ ውጊያ እየተካሄደ ያለው ኤርትራ ምድር ላይ እንደሆነ ግን አልሸሸጉም።

አንድ የሆስፒታል ሰራተኛ ዘመድ ደውሎላቸው “ቁሰለኞች አሉ ሥራ በዝቶብኛል” ማለታቸውን የጎልጉል መረጃ ሰጪዎች ከአዲሰ አበባ ገልጸዋል። ባለፈው ሳምንት በሁመራ አቅጣጫ የከባድ መሳሪያ ተኩስና ድብደባ መሰማቱን የተለያዩ ድረገጾች ዘግበው ነበር። ይህ ሁሉ ከመሆኑ በፊት ሻእቢያ “ህወሃት ሊወረኝ ነው” ሲል ክስ ማሰማቱ አይዘነጋም።

ኦምሃጀር በሚባለው ስፍራ የከረረ ውጊያ እየተካሄደ መሆኑን እንደሰሙ የገለጹ በውጊያው የትኛው ወገን ድል እንደተቀዳጀ ለጊዜው መናገር እንደማይቻል አመልክተዋል። ውጊያው ጠርዙን አስፍቶ እንደሚቀጥልም አስታውቀዋል።

ከህወሃት በኩል ውጊያው ከሻዕቢያ ጋር እንደሆነ ቢገለጽም ከሌላ ወገን “ህወሃትን የወጋሁት እኔ ነኝ” ባይ ይህ ዜና እስከታተመ ድረስ አልተሰማም። የአርበኞች ግንቦት 7 ንቅናቄ ህወሃትን በነፍጥ አንበረክካለሁ በማለት ማወጁና አመራሮቹም ወደ ውጊያው አውድ ማምራታቸው ይታወቃል። ህወሃት ኤርትራን በአራት አቅጣጫ የመውጋት እቅድ እንዳለው ጎልጉል መዘገቡ የሚታወስ ነው።

ይህ በእንዲህ እንዳለ በርካታ የሰራዊቱ አባላት ከሰራዊቱ እየሸሹና እየተሰወሩ መሆናቸው ህወሃትን እንዳሳሰበው፣ ጦሩ የመዋጋት ፍላጎት ያጣል የሚል ሥጋት እንዳለ የሚጠቁሙ ክፍሎች “የአሁኑ የውጊያ አቅጣጫ በዚህ መልኩ እንዲሆን መደረጉ ይህንኑ ለመፈተንም ጭምር ነው” ብለዋል።

በሌላ ዜና በሶማሌ ያለው ሰራዊት የመመለስ ጥያቄ ማንሳቱና ሁለት ጄኔራሎች ጦሩን ለማወያየት ከሁለት ሳምንት በፊት ወደ ስፍራው አቅንተው እንደነበር ለማወቅ ተችሏል። ጦሩ መስዋዕትነት እየከፈለ በተደጋጋሚ የተቆጣጠረውን ቦታ እንዲለቅ ትዕዛዝ ሲቀበል መቆየቱ ሌላው የቅሬታው መነሻ ሲሆን በሶማሌ ያለው የሰላም አስከባሪ ሃይል ይህንኑ ነቅፎ መግለጫ ማውጣቱ ይታወሳል። በህወሃት የሚመሩት የኢህአዴግ ባለስልጣናት በሶማሌ ስለተገደሉት ወገኖች መረጃ ለመስጠት ፈቃደኛ አለመሆናቸው፣ ተቃዋሚ ፓርቲዎችም ይህንን አክርረው አለመጠየቃቸው፣ ላለፉት አምስት ዓመታት 99.6 በመቶ ህወሃት የነገሰበት ማኅበርም (ፓርላማ) ለይስሙላ እንኳን ጥያቄ አቅርቦ እንደማያውቅ በርካቶች የሚተቹበት አገራዊ ጉዳይ ነው።

የኢትዮጵያ ሕዝብ ለውጥ ይፈልጋል። ይህ ሳይታለም የተፈታ እና የሁሉም የነጻነት ፈላጊ ሃይሎች ጥያቄ ነው። በሃገር ውስጥ ያሉትን ፓርቲዎች መዋቅሮቻቸውን በማጠናከር የውስጥ ድክመቶቻቸውን በመቅረፍ እንዲጠነክሩ የማድረግ ግዴታ ከለውጥ ፈላጊ ሃይሎች ይጠበቃል። መመካከር መተራረም ግድ ይላል። በውጪው አለም የሚገኙ የነጻነት እና የለውጥ ሃይሎች እንዲጠናከሩ እና ከጥልፍልፎሽ ፖለቲካ ወተው ጠንካራ ሃይል እንዲሆኑ የዲያስፖራው ሃይል ከበፊቱ በበለጠ መልኩ ሊሰራ ግድ ይለዋል። የወያኔ የጎን ውጋት እና የራስ ምታት የሆነው ዲያስፖራው የጀመረውን የትግል ስልት እና ትጋት በማስፋት ሚዲያዎችን በማጠናከር እና የነጻ አውጪ ፓርቲዎችን በመርዳት በማግባባት ጠንካራ ሰንሰለት ከሃገር ቤት ጋር በመፍጠር ሕዝብን ከጨቋኞች ነጻ ማውጣት አለበት።ዲያስፖራው በየቀኑ ወያኔ የሚፈጥረውን ተራ የቤት ስራ እና የማደናገሪያ ማዘናጊያ አሉባልታ ፊት ሳይሰጠው በለውጡ ጉዳይ ላይ በማተኮር በሃገር ቤት ያለው ሃይል እንዲስማማ የፖለቲካ ጡዘቶች ክፍተት እንዳይኖር ተቀራርቦ እንዲሰራ ትልቁን ሚና መጫወት አለበት::

ወያኔ የተቃዋሚዎችን እና የለውጥ ሃይሎችን እርስ በእርስ መፈነካከት በማየት አርጩሜውን ተስፋ በሚጣልባቸው ግለሰቦች እና ፓርቲዎች ላይ እያወናጨፈ ባለበት እንዲሁም የውስጥ አሰራራቸውን በመሰለል በትግሉ ውስጥ ያላቸውን ሚና እንዲኮላሽ በመስራት የውስጥ ድክመቶቻቸውን በመጠቀም እርስ በርስ እንዲፋጁ እና ተቃዋሚዎች እንዲከስሙ ጥንካሪያቸውን እንዳያገኙ ሲሰራ ይህንን እንዴት አድርገን በማሻሻል የወያኔን ሴራ ማክሸፍ አለብን የሚል አመኔታ የሚያስገኝ ሕዝባዊ ስራዎችን በመስራት ጥንካሬን ማግነት እንዲሁም ሕዝባዊ ድጋፎችን ማግኘት ግድ የሚልበት ጊዜ ላይ መሆናቸውን ተቃዋሚዎች ሊያውቁት ይገባል::ተቃዋሚዎች ካለፈው ድክመቶቻችን ተምረን ከዘለፋ እና ከስድብ እንዲሁም ከመፈራረጅ የሴራ ፖለቲካ በመውጣት ጥንካሬዎቻችንን የምናሳይበት ለውጥ የምናመጣበት አመት እንዲሆን በጋራ ጠንክረን መስራት አለብን።አንድነት ሃይል ነው የሚለው ብሂል ለሃገራዊ አጀንዳ መተግበር ትልቅ አስታውጾ አለው::ከኛ በላይ ላሳር ከኛ በላይ አዋቂ የለም የሚል አመለካከት ይዞ ከመክነፍ የህዝብን ጥያቄ መሰረት አድርጎ ተቀራርቦ በመነጋገር እና በመወያየት ሃገራዊ ማኒፌስቶ በማምጣት የጋራ ሃገራዊ አጀንዳ በመቅረጽ ለለውጥ መትጋት ግዴታ ነው::

Eritrean activists renew calls for release of jailed officials

September 18, 2015 (ADDIS ABABA) – Some 12 exiled Eritrean campaigner groups on Friday called for the release of 11 former Eritrean officials who remain held incommunicado since a government crackdown in 2001.

Eritrea, which borders Sudan and Ethiopia, has been dubbed the North Korea of Africa (HRW)

“We – as Eritrean organizations – demand the immediate release of the eleven signatories of the Open Letter now in detention and the implementation of the democratic reforms for which they fought” said a letter signed by the organizations and sent to Sudan Tribune.

The 11 Eritrean prominent politicians, including three former cabinet ministers who were seen as loyalists of the president were arrested on 18 and 19 September 2001 along with other suspected dissidents and journalists.

The detainees who were then serving as senior military or political leaders during the decade’s long war of independence were detained shortly after they called up on President Isaias Afewerki for democratic reform.

In May 2001 they wrote an open letter to the president and to the ruling People’s Front for Democracy and Justice (PFDJ) party, calling to implement Eritrea’s constitution , for the democratisation of government institutions, freeing of political prisoners, strengthening civil society, building new homes and aid for disabled national liberation fighters.

However the regime in Asmara responded by arresting them by accusing them of committing crimes against the security of the nation and conspiring with Ethiopia to topple President Isaias.

They have since been held incommunicado without charge for 14 years now.

In an email exchange, Feruz Werede a member of the Stop Slavery in Eritrea Campaign toldSudan Tribune that the petition letter that calls for the release of the 11 has now been circulated to the European Union.

Feruz who also is the official spokesperson of the 12 campaigner group made a call to the international community to listen to the plight of those people and their families.

“We do not know the condition of the officials arrested or their whereabouts. They have been incommunicado since their arrest 14 years ago,” she said.

International right groups say the detainees had been denied access to their families’ access to lawyers as well to medical treatment they need.

Political prisoners in the Red Sea nation are held in the country’s notorious prison facilities where inmates are subjected to extreme temperature conditions.

Former prisoners who arrived in Ethiopia recently told Sudan Tribune that most political inmates are incarcerated in underground cells and in shipping containers where temperatures could soar up to 50 Celsius.

Currently there are an estimated 5,000 to 10,000 political prisoners in Eritrea.
