Right related fight turns deadly at a High school in Hawasa

Unidentified number of students sustained major and minor injuries after students of Hawasa Tabor High School, South Ethiopia, clashed over the ‘usage of language.’
Federal police officers have been beating students that were coming out of the school and other students were also throwing stones from inside the campus, eyewitnesses said.
Police also fired guns. The school has since been closed.
An eyewitness preferring to remain anonymous said the officials of the area are behind the clash. Especially, some sources state, name changes brought in aiming to move Hawasa into the Federal government have caused the clash added with the refusal of local officials to respond to the questions of the students.
Meanwhile, the problems of ‘identity’ have been intensifying since the past five years thus the students’ clash should not simply be treated as an issue of language but something that is deeper than that.
Some observers link the recent identity and ethnic related problems in Ethiopia to the upcoming election while others warn that the ethnic politics in Ethiopia is reaching a terrifying level.
It is to be recalled that serious wrong mannerisms were witnessed during the recent 4thAll Ethiopia games in Bahir Dar city, clashes between Borena and Gudji people broke out and riots broke out in Shakiso, Southern Ethiopia in the past month alone.
